Knights of Columbus Charities

During the year 2016, with monies raised through events including the Pancake Breakfasts, the St. Patrick's Day Dinner, the Carmel Mission Classic & Blessing of the Cars, and the "Knights" at the Theater Gala, the Knights of Columbus Carmel Mission Council 4593 has made the following Charitable Disbursements:

$21,700 for Support of Various Ministries of the Carmel Mission
$15,600 to Support Students of Junipero Serra School
$3,750 to Support Religious Vocations
$21,400 to Support Various Community Organizations
$1,050 to Pro-Life Activities

The Council's Total Charitable Disbursement for 2016 was $63,500.  
Over the last five 
years the Council has disbursed a total of $213,500 to the following ministries and organizations, among others:

Junipero Serra School Scholarships 
Junipero Serra School is a Roman Catholic elementary school that supports and educates Catholic youth from the Monterey Peninsula community. Families of all faiths are welcome.

Coats for Kids
Over 200 coats were given to needy children living in South Monterey County.

Knights of Columbus Charities
Supports of Christians at Risk in Syria.

Catholic Charities  - 
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Monterey, is a faith-based non-profit social service agency providing aid to individuals and families in the four central coast counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito and San Luis Obispo. Their mission is to assist individuals and families of all backgrounds and beliefs providing them with tools, training and resources to help meet basic necessities for life. They serve over 20,000 individuals a year.

St. Vincent de Paul Farm Workers Program 
- 
Provides food, clothing, and blankets on a monthly basis and school supplies as needed to low income farm worker families living in South Monterey County.  

Carmelite Monastery of Our Lady and St. Therese, Carmel, California 
A cloistered, contemplative community of women, totally consecrated to Jesus Christ, who pray for the world and the needs of the Church.

Carmel Mission Foundation  A foundation supporting the ongoing project of restoring and maintaining the Carmel Mission.  It was here that Junipero Serra oversaw the mission system which eventually gave way to the religious and social structures that would become the “Golden State.”  

Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, House of Prayer, Carmel, California.
Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur has a long history of serving the poor, starting in Europe over two centuries ago.  Today, Sisters in the California Province continue that tradition in a variety of ways and in many venues.
